Cold Pyro

They can't produce the smoke that a lot of outdoor fires produce, and they can't be as hot. But pyrotechnic mixtures that are considerably lower in temperature are of great interest, and there's been some real progress. People call them "cold" fires.

Explosions, flashes, smoke, flames, fireworks, and other pyrotechnic-driven effects used in the entertainment industry are referred to as proximate pyrotechnics. Proximity refers to the pyrotechnic device's location relative to an audience.
